Wine Spectator 94 Points

Ripe and structured but fresh in feel, with a lovely, pure beam of cassis driving through, supported by mouthwatering apple wood, savory and iron details along the way. This red offers cut and drive, with the fruit lingering the longest thanks to a light hand with the toast. Very Rutherford. Drink now through 2038. 2,600 cases made.

Bollinger Brut Champagne La Grande Année 2015

Wine Spectator 96 Points

This expressive Champagne features a rich, well-spiced range of flavors chiseled by well-honed, integrated acidity, which lends a racy feel to the ripe black cherry and mulberry fruit and notes of salted almond, pink grapefruit granita, crystallized honey and pickled ginger that ride the raw silk–like mousse. 2020 La Rioja Alta Viña Alberdi

 Wine Advocate 92 Points

The younger wine here is the 2020 Viña Alberdi, a versatile version of the Haro reds. It was produced with Tempranillo fermented in stainless steel and matured in American oak barrels for two years (it's sold as Reserva in international markets and Crianza in Spain). It has 14% alcohol with a pH of 3.6 and five grams of acidity. It has a classical nose of ripe fruit, American oak and spices, the subtle notes of forest floor, still young. The palate is velvety and very balanced with polished tannins. Approachable but should also age. 650,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2023.

$22.95

2023 St. Innocent Freedom Hill Vineyard Pinot Blanc

Winemaker Notes:  Freedom Hill Vineyard Pinot blanc is a wine I love to enjoy with appetizers and especially shellfish. The aromas always remind me of going to a fruit stand in the fall and smelling all the varieties of apples and pears. This lovely vintage also has an appealing aroma of white flowers - think lemon blossoms or fresh basil. On the palate there is a touch of salinity, perfect for shellfish, that comes from the very old uplifted marine seabed that the vines grow in. The richness on the palate extends nicely into a finish of dried apples and meyer lemon. Enjoy with crab rangoon, oysters Rockefeller, steamed mussels, and stuffed mushroom caps. $34 Our Price $24.99

2023 Ramey Chardonnay Russian River Valley

Wine Spectator 94 Points

Leaps out of the glass with intensity, offering vibrant fruit flavors of crisp Meyer lemon, apple and pear. Aromatic details of tangerine, lime sherbet and lemon blossoms add complexity alongside fresh herbal accents of lemon balm and sweetgrass. Crushed rock minerality lingers on the long, expressive finish. Drink now through 2039. 549 cases made.

$50

2019 La Rioja Alta Viña Ardanza Reserva

Wine Advocate 94 Points

No 2018 was produced, so after the 2017 I tasted last year, we jumped to the 2019 Viña Ardanza Reserva, produced with a blend of 80% Tempranillo and 20% Garnacha. It fermented destemmed in stainless steel and aged in American oak barrels, 36 months for the Tempranillo and 30 months for Garnacha, and was blended before bottling. 2019 is a very good year for them, a small crop of powerful and concentrated wines when they produced all their brands, an exception. This is spicy, structured, balanced and powerful in this warm year, reaching the customary 14.5% alcohol and keeping a pH of 3.54 and 5.5 grams of acidity. It's still very young and undeveloped, with the classical profile, generous in American oak aromas and flavors that should slowly integrate in the wine with years in bottle. For them, 2019 means a change in Ardanza, less spicy (but still quite spicy, with clove, vanilla and tobacco leaves) and with more fresh fruit from the Garnacha. But the year is a modern version of 2015. 500,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2023. No 2023 or 2024 will be produced either.

$42.95

2021 Vineyard 29 Cabernet Sauvignon Aida Estate

Jeb Dunnuck 97 Points

Another gem of a wine from this estate, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Aida Estate includes 1% Petit Verdot and spent 20 months in French oak. It has a darker red and blue-slanted fruit profile as well as some classic tobacco, scorched earth, and graphite aromatics. These all carry to a medium to full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with a seamless, layered, elegant mouthfeel, ripe, building tannins, and a pure, focused style that will benefit from 3-4 years of bottle age. The balance, purity, and sheer class here are top notch, and this will see its 20th birthday in fine form.

$300

Pahlmeyer Chardonnay Napa Valley 2022

Wine Spectator 94 Points

Expansive, broad and aromatic, the notes of toasted fennel, lemon thyme, litsea oil and vetiver leap out of the glass, giving way to opulent flavors of grilled peach, caramelized pineapple and spiced, baked apples. Shows power and elegance, with crisp acidity pushing the flavors into clarity and helping them linger on the fresh finish. Drink now through 2037. 2,990 cases made.

2021 Frogs Leap Estate Grown Cabernet Sauvignon

Decanter Journal 95 Points

Dry-farmed Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes are aged 20 months in mostly neutral French oak barrels. Unfined and unfiltered. A rather dark, meaty, and savoury expression from this iconic Rutherford Estate helmed by founder and proprietor John Williams. Opaque ruby in colour shows black olive, dusty earth, and graphite. Medium-bodied and intensely perfumed on the palate, wit builds in elegance, almost defying its rather muscular aromatic profile. Fresh, balanced, quite complex, and quite cellar-worthy.

$75

Marcel Cabelier Crémant du Jura Brut Cremant

Anne Sewell 93 Points

The Marcel Cabelier Crémant du Jura Brut is zesty and fresh with aromas of peony, hibiscus, pink grapefruit, and strawberry. On the palate, the wine has vibrant acidity and flavors of blood orange, lime zest, and lemonade. This wine is refreshing and bright and definitely over-delivers for wines in this category. $25

2020 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaker Notes:  The 2020 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has captivating notes of cedar and concentrated red fruit character that dance gracefully on the palate. With its ruby hue and smooth, polished tannins, this wine offers a harmonious blend of depth and nuance. Balanced acidity adds a refined touch to the long finish, with vibrant layers of fresh raspberry, cherry and cola. This wine will continue to improve through 2042 given proper cellaring conditions

2020 Silver Oak Napa Cabernet Sauvignon

James Suckling 95 Points

A super creamy, delicious and detailed red with oodles of red fruit, silky tannins and a full body. It tastes pure, fresh, almost delicate, offering raspberries, cherry cream, blueberries, cafe au lait and subtle oak toast on the palate. A gentle, layered, pretty wine that seems not at all affected by the wildfire smoke that year.

$200

Billecart Salmon Le Rose NV

Jeb Dunnuck 93 Points

Seven percent red wine added to the blend to make the NV Champagne Brut Rosé, which is based on the 2020 harvest and is 45% Chardonnay, 25% Meunier, and the rest Pinot Noir, with about 45% reserve wine. A classic pink salmon hue, the nose is classic and pretty with notes of fresh peaches, raspberries, roses, and chalky earth. Medium-bodied and rounded, it’s approachable and fresh in style, with lovely purity and a pretty feel throughout. It’s delicious now but has the ability to age with ease over the coming 10 years. Disgorged in the first quarter of 2023, 4.7 grams per liter dosage (although interestingly, they are now including the total grams per liter, in this case 5.3 grams per liter in the final wine). $90

Wine Enthusiast 91 Points

2024 Spottswoode Sauvignon Blanc

Spottswoode's 2024 Sauvignon Blanc draws fruit from both Sonoma (57%) and Napa (43%), incorporating 6% Sémillon as well. Fermented and matured in a mix of new and used French oak, stainless steel and "other" vessels (amphora, ceramic, concrete), it's a lively wine, with white grapefruit easily combining and underpinning riper notes of fig and guava. Medium- to full-bodied, it's silky, elegant and long on the finish.

2022 Spottswoode Lyndenhurst Napa Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Lyndenhurst is characterized on the nose by ripe cherries, hints of cedar and dried spices. A blend of all five Bordeaux varieties, aged in approximately 50% new French oak, it's medium- to full-bodied, silky and plush. Already very drinkable but not flaccid, this shows lovely shape and delineation on the palate, reinforced by silky, fine-grained tannins on the finish.  2022 Domaine la Janasse Cotes du Rhone Reserve Rouge

Winemaker Notes: Domaine la Janasse was one of the first properties represented by European Cellars, and for many years we sold their dependable and quaffable bistro-styled Côtes-du-Rhône. A few years ago, while tasting in their cellar, we sampled a portion of this cuvée out of foudre, and the Côtes-du-Rhône Reserve was born. It’s a more serious effort than the regular Côtes-du-Rhône bottling that showcases the estate’s ability to marry richness with finesse.

A more saturated red color, it’s pretty and floral with hints of mocha, purple flowers, black raspberries, and red-fruited highlights. The palate is full and ripe, with a plush and well-detailed feel and a long finish.  2022 Ghost Block Estate Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaker Notes:  Sourced from our family-owned and organically farmed Rock Cairn Vineyard. Planted in deep, gravelly loam soil with a western exposure, this property yields fruit of exceptional quality. The 2022 growing season was defined by a warm, dry summer, with an intense nine-day heat wave in early September accelerating ripening. As a result, harvest arrived earlier than usual, yet the vines produced deeply concentrated fruit with remarkable structure and complexity. The Rock Cairn Vineyard boasts seven distinct blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon, ranging from 4 to 39-year-old plantings. This diverse array of vine age allows us to capture the unique characteristics specific to each stage of maturity, resulting in a meticulously crafted blend that perfectly expresses the essence of this cherished site.
